MultiMode™ Communications Interfaces for TWIC and FIPS 201

All Multimode readers are configured with both Wiegand (programmable up to 512 bits) and Serial (RS232 or RS485 selectable). Wiegand communications are compatible with all PACS providers access control panels.

Dual communications (Wiegand and Serial) provide bi-directional communication pathways to and from reader. Serial communications from the reader to panel also minimize risk of security attacks on a network. The serial communication is converted to Ethernet at the panel for simplified IP addressability. This approach allows the reuse of existing wiring for a serial connection to the supported readers—no network connection is required at the reader.
